Leah and I visited Caymus back in 2008 and their Cabernet Sauvignon is one of our favorites. This 2015 Caymus is rated 94 points by Robert Parker.

Pinot Noir is a finicky grape. It requires the proper climate, the right soil, the perfect weather and a masterful winemaker. It is the grape of Burgundy of which some of the most expensive bottles of wine are made. But Pinot Noir can find its place in the climate of the Finger Lakes and in this video, Leah and David try a wonderfully crafted version from Ravines Wine Cellars. Constructed in the Burgundian method it reflects both the terroir of the Finger Lakes as well as the old world style of France.

Just a short video to wish everyone a Happy Easter! Leah and I had a delicious rib roast with a 2003 Chateau LaGrange from St. Julien in Bordeaux. A very delicate nose and descent palate of green vegetables, blue berries and cassis. A lot of tannin for a wine thats pushing 15 years old.

As pinot enthusiasts, it is hard for us to resist an unfamiliar bottle on the shelf. Especially when the pinot hails from the Finger Lakes. This is no exception and even satisfies the wine geek in the process. Forge Cellars is a small operation that boasts dry Rieslings and Pinot Noir on their roster. This wine, as with all of their bottles, is unfiltered, hand picked and hand sorted. Garnet in color, it reveals primarily smoke, plumb, and vanilla on the nose.
