Expand your repertoire and branch out from grape wine to it’s older sister, mead. Honey wine, as it is also referred to, is made around the world, and in New York State. This version from Thousand Island Winery is a sweet style made with just water, honey and yeast. Pale in the glass, the aromas of citrus, clover and honey predominate. The body is light and although sweet, is comparable to a semi-sweet Riesling. Try this with spicy foods and you may become a fan of this ‘nectar of the gods’.
