Forge Cellars 2015 Pinot Noir Classique

March 18, 2018

As pinot enthusiasts, it is hard for us to resist an unfamiliar bottle on the shelf. Especially when the pinot hails from the Finger Lakes. This is no exception and even satisfies the wine geek in the process. Forge Cellars is a small operation that boasts dry Rieslings and Pinot Noir on their roster. This wine, as with all of their bottles, is unfiltered, hand picked and hand sorted. Garnet in color, it reveals primarily smoke, plumb, and vanilla on the nose. The body is light and fairly straight forward with oak, cherry juice, and mild tannins. Although this bottle was a bit disappointing, the attention to detail with their label, website and interesting notes on the wine making will make you come back to try some of their other offerings. 85 points WF
